Certainly, lawyers and compliance consultants are applauding the Commission’s efforts during 2023 to keep them gainfully employed with the continued large number of enforcement actions and rapid rulemaking pace set during 2023. Enforcement actions during 2023 resulted in the second largest recorded totals (fines, civil penalties, and financial remedies) in the Commission’s history. During 2023, there were 18 final rules adopted and 18 new proposals announced.
