Tomorrow, FTF is hosting a webinar: Mastering Trade-Related Communications Monitoring. Janaya Moscony will moderate the panel. The webinar will discuss the difficulty firms are facing in navigating these regulations in light of so many new communication platforms. Zoom and Teams, among so many others, have become staples of client interactions. What other ways are your employees communicating business related matters?
This comes on the heels of SEC and CFTC probes, enforcement cases, and fines naming at least sixteen financial institutions for failure to maintain communications related books and records. Fines related to these cases exceed 1.8 billion. While these numbers catch attention, you should really draw your attention to the fact that this is not an issue isolated to only the largest firms.
Many applications have communications features, even if that is not the app’s primary function. Most of us are aware that social media platforms typically have chat or private message functions and have addressed them. But as the technology landscape evolves, we also should be aware of the many applications that were not created for business use but that allow for text, voice, and video communications and may include image and other file sharing. Discord is among the most popular, employed widely by gamers, but there are many alternatives; Slack, Hangouts, Mumble, Element, Steam, Troop Messenger, RaidCall, Chanty, HeySpace, Flock, Overtone, Ventrilo, and Wire, to name a few. Even phone-based multiplayer games frequently have a chat function.
We hope you can join us for this discussion tomorrow and you will leave with new ideas on how to enhance oversight within your organization.
